Hello Humans!

I have 3 copies of SUB- left over from these past few cons, so I’ve put them up on my storenvy! They’ll each come with a hand-drawn “Thank You” card from your’s truly!

But if you can’t afford to by a copy, then feel free to download the PDF book on Gumroad at whatever price you want between $0-infinity!

I don’t know when I’ll be making more copies of SUB-, so for now, this is it!

Are you an LGBT creator who could use some money to help you self-publish your comic? Then you might want to check out Prism Comics’s Queer Press Grant, now open for submissions!

Prism Comics offers an annual financial grant to help aspiring LGBT comics creators publish and promote their comics. The Queer Press Grant is funded by donations from readers, established creators with the desire to help those just starting out, and fans who want to see more LGBT stories get published.
“It’s an exciting time for LGBT comics creators.” says Ted Abenheim, president of Prism Comics. “Every day there are new artists and writers creating comics which present the wide diversity of LGBT experience. Great works of serious literary merit, but although the comics industry has begun to embrace LGBT comics, it is still difficult and expensive for independent and aspiring comics creators to get their comics into the hands of readers. The Queer Press Grant helps self-publishing LGBT comics creators accomplish this goal.”

Past winners include Megan Rose Gedris for “YU+ME:dream”, Pam Harrison for “House of Muses”, Tana Ford for “Duck”, Christine Smith for “The Princess”, Blue Deliquanti for “O Human Star”, and Hazel Newlevant for “If This Be Sin”
Go to the Queer Press Grant page for instructions on how to apply. The deadline for proposals is Monday, September 1, 2014. The grant will be awarded at the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco October 4-5, 2014.
Prism will also be exhibiting at San Diego Comic Con next month, conducting portfolio reviews, presenting panels, and hosting creator signings.

Today is the final release for Issue #010 of Sparkler Monthly!
For subscribers, we have the end of our short comic Dinner Ditz by Alexis Cooke! This josei-inspired foodie love story is charming and sweet, and the art is so quirky and emotive—our whole editorial staff are big fans, so we hope you check it out! Read Chapter 1 (free to read for everyone) and Chapter 2 (for subscribers only until next week).
(We did a limited print run of this comic for TCAF several weeks ago, and we’ve put the leftover copies in the Sparkler Shop for purchase. We call it a minicomic, but at over 50 pages, it’s a pretty substantial book!)

Also, Tokyo Demons: Book 2’s dark, terrifying, Lianne-what-are-you-doing-to-us finale ran last week, and now it’s out from behind the paywall—free to read forever! That means all chapters of Book 1 and Book 2 are out and free. You can lose your weekend reading the whole thing!

And Awake: Chapter 8 is up on the site and on Bandcamp, free to stream. The crew members finds Jamilah’s video key and have successive breakdowns. Did you know the back chapters of that series are free to stream, too? Lose your weekend listening to the whole thing!
Have a great, unproductive weekend.

It’s the end of Dinner Ditz (probably) •;◊•)/ It was so great working with the Sparkler gals and working on the comic in general! <3
If you read Dinner Ditz, feel free to give me some feedback here!

This will be the last update for a while on SUB-.  It’s been almost  years since I started planning the project and laying everything out.  It’s so nice to finally be done with the first chapter.  A little sad, but nice.I’m going to take this next month to plan and write up the script for chapter 2 and decide if I’m going to do batch updates or a page a week.  So this will be the end for a bit //tears//. But to tied you over, you can download the hi-res pages off Gumroad.  The download includes the print covers that aren’t posted online, some sketches that aren’t posted anywhere online (a few that have), and hi-res character sheets.  It doesn’t cost anything to download, but it has the option too (incase your feeling generous, tee hee). This is goodnight for now, sweat SUB-, but not good-bye!LOVEA.a
